Camps and Classes
Youth and Teen Lessons: $180
Youth and teen lessons take place from 9:00AM-11:30AM, and from 1:00PM-3:30PM Monday – Friday. Students who are new to sailing are encouraged to attend the morning session, and students who are intermediate/advanced sailors are encouraged to attend the afternoon session. Lessons are held at our location at 600 South Park Avenue in Neenah, Wisconsin. We are located behind the Neenah Pool near the boat launch.
The lesson dates for 2024 are as follows:
Session A, June 10 – June 14
Session 1, June 17 – June 21
Session 2, June 24 – June 28 PM only. Any sailing experience is welcome.
Session 3, July 8 – July 12
Session 4, July 15 – July 19
Session 5, July 22 – July 26
Session 5.5, August 5th – August 9th PM only. Any sailing experience is welcome.
Session 6, August 12 – August 15 Please note there are no Friday classes this session, with a lower session fee to reflect this change.
Adult Lessons: $450
Adult lessons take place from 5:30PM-8:30PM every Monday and Wednesday evening at Riverside Park in Neenah. There are two sessions each lasting 4 weeks each summer, for a total of 8 lessons as part of this class. The first two weeks of lessons are focused on general sailing knowledge and skills on our Flying Scot fleet. The last two weeks of lessons typically take place on NNYC volunteer keelboats to help students practice their skills on larger boats.

Session 2, July 8 – July 31
Introduction to Sailboat Racing, new for 2024: $350
This new sailing opportunity is meant for recent adult lesson graduates or adults with commensurate experience. This class is limited to 8 students.
Class schedule:
Monday, August 5th 5:30 to 8:30pm course racing and white board work
Wednesday, August 7th 5:30 to 8:30pm course racing with fleet and white board work
Monday, August 12th 5:30 to 8:30pm course racing and white board work
Wednesday, August 14th 5:30 to 8:30pm course racing with fleet and white board work
Race Day Saturday, August 17th 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. A course will be set up that permits multiple races.
Primary Instructors:
Mark Johnson – Long time one design racer and author of Racing Basics
Tom Charpentier – retired sailing coach, Oshkosh High School Sailing, and Sail Maine Advanced Racing
Assisting in the classes will be FVSS instructors and Neenah-Nodaway Yacht Club members.
Each registered student will receive a PDF copy of Racing Basics by Mark Johnson the week before session 1.
Cancellations are subject to a 5% fee. Cancelled registrations that occur less than 7 days before the first day of class will be forfeited. Registration for any class will close 4 days before the first class is scheduled. In addition, you will be alerted if any class does not have at least 4 students. If this is the case, you will be offered an opportunity to transfer to another class or you will receive a refund of your registration fee.
